T-shirt Extravaganza

So I have been making T-shirts. I had a ton of weathered knit that I had gotten from my mother and Lids (Who I assume got it from her mother also.) the knit was around 20 years old. it came from some company mom ordered from in large quantity and got everyone she knew to order too so they could get discounts. Hence aunt Wanda having lots too. I know they used some of it but I got what they didn't get around to using.

I started buy making a floral tank top.

Then I made a blue v-neck t shirt.

then I made one for Elise but goofed on grading(Making the pattern bigger) so it was way to big for her. Which is unfortunate because it was the funnest one I had made.

So I made her another one that actually fit and another one to sell. now I have plans to make one for my pregnant cousin. And I sold a surprise one on etsy so that ones next.

Flower Girl Dresses

I was excited when Lids told me that she suggested to Becka that I could make her flower girl dresses and in my head I wondered why I wasn't asked to make every garment of clothing in the wedding. It may have been for a lack of time and the month I was given was just enough to cut out sew and re-hem Two flower girl dresses. The lack of time and inability for fittings also caused us to have to go to Joann's and pick out a pattern. I did however add a second layer on the skirt so I think that means that I can claim it as my design. the glittery fabric was a pain to sew on but well worth it. It took me forty seven hours to make them and in the end I think that they may have cost Becka more than what she could have bought them for but we used all the coupons we could(except one because the checker wasn't helping us with our coupons and instead that we had used all that we could apply and not wanting to be a bother I relented). in the end though I felt that she was more pleased with them than she would have been with the plain alternative.

Patterning!

So I've got started patterning for my Fall 2011 line "Rather Large Rodents" Its inspired, yes, by rodents. I wanted to call it "rodents of unusual size" but I thought that may get me in to some legal trouble! Theres 10 looks in the line 5 for women and five for men. although I realized yesterday that I have no Idea how to pattern for men so I'm looking on amazon for a good book. I plan on making a couple coats too which may be hard. I planned at first to show this line around graduation but found out that lines are typically shown in February for fall and spring is shown in September. So I've lowered the number of garments for fall to ten so I can get them done and I'm soing to start my after school career in September.

Recycled paper ornaments

I decided to use these colorful pieces of paper after finding outside wet from rain. Earlier that day a pipe under the sink had broke and leaked water in to the basement on to dirty laundry. I had asked little sis to take them out and hang them on the fence for them to dry while I cleaned the water up. She instead spread them around on the ground so when I finally got back out to puck them up they were frozen and I then found the paper and put it on top of the close in the basket. The next day Stylish Sis told me that I had washed a book with the close I washed I realized then that it was the same paper and that It was definitely time to put it to use. So the following is how you make paper ornaments like I made from well washed paper.

What You'll need

• Paper in the color of your choice

• Blender

• Water

• Screen

• Bucket

• Pitcher

• Pressing cloths

• Iron

• Ironing board

First collect colorful pieces of paper. If they've been printed on look to see if the ink is glossy and ever so slightly risen. This paper when blended the ink becomes black flecks in the paper that will affect the look of you paper.

Rip the paper in to small chunks and loosely put them in the blender till its 3 /4 full.

Add warm water till it covers the paper at least an inch. Then blend till its the consistency you like. Well blended makes less visible contrast colors light blending makes a colorful chunky paper.

Pore the mush into something that you can pore easy from.

Next you need to put your paper screen on something that can catch the water. Then look through your cookie cutters for the shapes you want.

Put the cookie cutters on the screen and scoop or poor the paper mush in to them.

Carefully pull the cookie cutters off the screen and move the screen on to a towel with some white cotton over it. Carefully flip the screen over and while the screen is still over the shapely paper mush press a sponge over them to get out all the excess water. Then remove the screen you may need to tide up the edges with a fork. You can fold the paper thats out of place back up on itself.

Then put another piece of cotton over the top of the ornaments. Press till dry. Then punch a hole in the top and thread a ribbon through the hole and tie.

Graduation Cakes

My mother graduated collage this year and I got to make the cakes!

She wanted the old logo on one of the cakes so I went on the hunt to find an Image of it so I could(I had my sis put it on the cake I was afraid of messing it up) get it right but like I suspected they have wiped its existence from the face of the earth. After paying lots of money for one to replace it I knew that would be the case. I took many photos of all the places I could find the logo to document it egsistance after i found out they got a new one.

Capri To Skirt

I bought myself a pair of Capris but didn't like the length of them so I cut off the bottom of them and made them in to a pair of walking shorts. With the part I cut off I made an extra small skirt.
